Major changes on the way for New England
Posted by Danielle Niles September 15, 2009 at 2:20 pm
A pleasant afternoon is underway across New England with a blend of clouds and sunshine along with a nice breeze and seasonably warm temperatures. Temperatures will top out in the lower to middle 70s for many of us today, even along the coast where the wind is offshore. But lurking on the horizon is a chilly airmass building across southern Canada which has just begun to bleed across the border into northern New England. Unfortunately, it has its sights set on the remainder of New England later today. So my advice: get out and enjoy this late summer beauty while it lasts! Read more

Easter Weekend Weather Discussion-Updated

Chilly Easter Egg Hunts
Happy Easter! So nice to see the sun return on this day. But Brrrr! It feels more like March than April! An area of high pressure is sliding out of James Bay . This, in combination with our departing low is allowing winds to pick up out of the NNW and direct cooler and drier air into the region as skies are filled with sunshine. There are more clouds in the Northwest, especially in VT and the Mountains of NH. Drying downsloping winds are helping to keep the coast brighter. Winds will remain active much of the day providing a significant chill to the air. The airmass will provide an unseasonably cool airmass in the 40’s, but winds will make it feel like it is in the 30’s this afternoon. It would be wise to keep a sweater or light coat with you today. Definitely bundle up the kids for any Easter egg hunts or heading to church! Read more

Daffodils & Forsythias
This Sunday is starting with quite a bit of cloud cover. These clouds will be tough to shake today, but I am expecting more in the way of sunny breaks and some increasing sun during the afternoon. Winds have shifted to the west, so this will allow for a warmer day at the coast without the chilly onshore winds. We are warming ahead of an approaching cold front which will provide a dramatic change in temperature in the next 24 hours. Read more
