Sunshine! Quick, Let’s Mow The Lawn- June 25 ‘09

Bob Skilling at Blue Hill Observatory, had this to say:
“The Campbell-Stokes sunshine recorder has officially recorded the first bright sunshine on Great Blue Hill since last Saturday, June 21. As of 2:00 PM, the sun card has 6 minutes of burn (or one tenth of an hour) for the 11 AM to noon (EDT) hour today, (Thurs June 25, 2009).”
Six Minutes!? Thanks Bob.
The sun came out, so I mowed. I would have liked to surf, but the swell was a no show south of Boston.

The sunshine actually helped create the cloud that came right in minutes after the sun burned through. We have an unstable atmosphere, meaning hot under cold. And this imbalance is going to become extreme tomorrow and Saturday. That means sun & storms. We are warmer now, with wind more from the south and west, instead of north and east. But our barometer is stuck low. And if the weekend is near, that means we have a stalling front, with low pressure forming to our south by Saturday Night. Then on Sunday.. into who knows when, we may get back to and east and north wind. So for the next two days we hit 80°, with slow moving Cumulonimbus. When and where it rains, it pours, with lightning and hail. Though most of the time it is not raining, when it does rain, we will see localized flooding. For the 110,000 fans headed to Loudon New Hampshire Nascar, bring plenty of sunscreen, bug repellent, a rain hat, and spare shoes and socks to put on after the downpour. Same story for Parrot Heads in Mansfield Massachusetts Saturday.
